Essexuncovered.com is Essex’s leading entertainment website, set up in August 2000 by Daniel Puddick and Dagmara Barcz.

Daniel Puddick of Aylesbeare, Southend On Sea, began his entrepreneurial career at Southend College of Art and Design doing an Art Foundation Course. He was subsequently accepted into the world’s leading St Martin’s College of Art and Design in London, which has produced talent such as John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney. Whilst at university, instead of having a work experience placement, he set up his first business, a graphic design company, Scratch New Media. He was a runner-up in The Times Student Awards 2000 for a website that he designed and ran. He left Scratch New Media and set up Affordable Services Ltd, initially a web design company that expanded rapidly into a web management company and a publisher. In August 2000, prompted by a night out in another Essex town, Daniel realised that Essex nightlife had a lot to offer and provided a great alternative to London. The problem was that people didn’t realise what was on offer in other Essex towns-essexuncovered.com was the answer-with listings direct from clubs, promoters and DJ’s essexuncovered is the place to find out what’s happening. An online clubbing community rapidly grew, where people talk about their nights out, review clubs and meet like-minded fun loving people; the membership currently stands at 4500 and is growing everyday.

Dagmara Alicja Barcz is Daniel’s partner in keeping the Essex nightlife community dynamic and sparkling! A girl from Chadwell St Mary began her media experience whilst at Palmer’s Sixth Form College, Grays, with placements in TV production companies LWT and Pearson Television. She is currently studying Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University, but definitely not being a typical student! She’s putting her photography A-Level into practice as one of the photographers for essexuncovered.com Dagmara has just finished a four week stint on Essex radio station Phoenix FM as the weekly club expert, giving the low-down on the best places to go out.

The latest, exciting project for essexuncovered is the essexuncovered magazine due out in the shops December 1st 2002. The idea was to produce a bi-monthly in-depth lifestyle publication with the focus on intelligent, humorous articles giving a glimpse into the workings of the nightlife industry; Essex success stories, such as Sarah Sturgess, from the world’s leading advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi, a key figure behind the current Archer’s TV campaign; to highlight Essex’s style; to give previews of the musical talent in Essex; to address the culture and positive aspects of living in Essex. This is a very trendy magazine and no Essex girl or guy should be seen without it. essexuncovered magazine launches the essexuncovered hairdressing awards and a modelling competition to win a cover shoot for a future issue in association with top London agency Trashed Model Management.

The magazine is an excellent read, the first issue covers things such as employment, alcohol consumption, the Essex LesBiGay scene, and reviews of the best places to spend your hard earned cash on entertainment. It also covers style, fashion and photography. There is a mix of scenes in the magazine including the trendy house lovers; the skate scene; hip-hop and drum and bass, rock and pop bands, as well as connections with fanzines specific to towns such as 01206 from Chelmsford and WaffleOn from Romford.
